“Two peaks” comes from Taiwan
Huang Cheng-Yuang and Peter Lee’s exhibition will be opening on 2nd March 2008 in Zhu Qi- Zhan Art Musuem. There is a big difference between their artworks on viewing. One is peaceful, the other is wild；One is tradition, the other is vanguard. Both of them exist traditional Chinese philosophy on their thought but so different representation from their art. “Two peaks” means two artists come from mountainous Taiwan and be predominant in Taiwan art.
It is like a flying kite when looking at Peter Lee’s artwork. The style of Peter Lee’s artwork is very unique and unusual. He says the middle of artwork is a stripe of tape painted by oil paint. The part of artwork means emotional and disorder. The dots, lines and surfaces mean the movement of people, cars and things on the road. The condition of road, “sometimes is quiet；sometimes is crowded”, is changeable with the time. The external form of artwork means rational and order. It represents the buildings are built in order outsides of road. Even the plants of park are also artificial in order. So the rational and emotional concept of the artwork is as if human being life.
Huang Cheng-Yuan’s show continues the style of his first show in Shanghai. The three words, “gluttonous”, “entangled” and “remaining”, the topic of this show, sound in Chinese as if tragic meaning. He explains “ gluttonous” causes “entangled”. After this process, something will be left called “remaining”. Huang Cheng-Yuan explains deeply that the feeling of getting entangled by himself is emotion. And the “emotion” is the key concept from his last show in Shanghai “nudity, body, feeling and movement”. He still keeps the concept ”emotion” and goes forward to this show. And insist his philosophy” go deeper is better than go wilder”
